$99 for a Return Trip on Canada’s Newest Tourist Train

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (April 19, 2006) – Rocky Mountaineer Vacations is celebrating the launch of its highly anticipated new train experience, the Whistler Mountaineer with a special limited time offer for BC residents. From now until June 30th , British Columbians can book a return trip on the Whistler Mountaineer train for $99 and travel anytime before October 16th. This offer is available for guests travelling in the Whistler Mountaineer’s Coast Classic experience. An additional $70 will allow a return trip upgrade to the Glacier Dome. All guests have access to the Heritage Observation Car allowing for close up views of the beautiful natural sights along the way. Operating between May 1st and October 16th, the three-hour Whistler Mountaineer rail journey links North Vancouver and Whistler, BC and delivers a travel experience like never before.

The Whistler Mountaineer offers northbound and southbound departures, seven days a week and features stunning views of BC’s Sea to Sky region. Cascading waterfalls, sparkling Pacific waters and soaring mountain peaks can be found around just about every bend of this unique train trip. Travelling northbound, the Whistler Mountaineer will depart from the North Vancouver station at 8:30 a.m. and arrive in Whistler at 11:30 a.m. The southbound departure is scheduled to leave Whistler at 2:30 p.m. and will arrive back in North Vancouver at 5:30 p.m.

Two different types of experiences are offered onboard the Whistler Mountaineer: Glacier Dome and Coast Classic. The Glacier Dome is a single-level, custom-built dome coach complete with panoramic views and a refined yet relaxed atmosphere. On the northbound departure, guests are served an impressive breakfast of a delectable fruit plate and hot entrée at their seats served on crisp linens and fine china. Southbound travellers will experience an exquisite afternoon tea service, where finger sandwiches, petit fours and a selection of teas will be offered. The Coast Classic experience features a traditional rail carriage environment with large picture windows and assigned seating. A light meal will be served at your seat when travelling in either direction. Access to the unique Heritage Observation Car puts all guests that much closer to the breathtaking scenery.

Regular prices for a one-way trip starts at $99 CDN per person in Coast Classic or $169 CDN per person in Glacier Dome. For children between the ages of 2 to 11 years old, the Coast Classic experience is offered at a one-way fare of $49 CDN and $119 CDN for Glacier Dome. Prices include transportation from downtown Vancouver to the North Vancouver rail terminus and from the Whistler rail station to Whistler Village.
