Canada's Whistler Mountaineer train now offers "Whistler Adventures" showcasing the excitement of the west coast
July 19, 2006
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (July 19, 2006) – The launch of Canada’s newest tourist train, the Whistler Mountaineer in May has helped connect thousands of guests between the cosmopolitan destination of Vancouver and the four-season resort town of Whistler, British Columbia. Travellers can now combine the spectacular three-hour train ride through the stunning Sea to Sky region with eight unique “Whistler Adventure” getaways. Whether guests are looking for adrenaline packed holidays, short family vacations or rejuvenating visits to the spa, there is a “Whistler Adventure” to suit every taste. New for 2006 and offered exclusively by Rocky Mountaineer Vacations, these getaways can be enjoyed as day trips or are available up to three days in length. Reservations are easily made through an online booking system at www.whistlermountaineer.com.
“The new Whistler Mountaineer train trip is a great complement to the adventure packed offerings of a premier resort like Whistler,” says James Terry, Rocky Mountaineer Vacations’ C.O.O. & Executive V.P. “The introduction of our “Whistler Adventures” really showcases the diversity of what Whistler has to offer during the summer and fall seasons and has something for everyone.”
Adrenaline Rush After a morning spent travelling by cascading waterfalls and majestic mountains onboard the Whistler Mountaineer, guests are able to pack even more action into their getaway with such thrilling activities as bungee jumping, ATV rides or zipline tours. One “Whistler Adventure” package that will satisfy even the most hardcore of adrenaline junkies is the “Whistler Zipline Adventure,” which can be booked as a day trip or as an overnight stay. Travellers will enjoy Whistler’s most popular eco-adventure tour, featuring ziplines, boardwalks, canopy walks and more. After a three-hour journey onboard the Whistler Mountaineer’s Coast Classic experience, travellers will soar through the air along steel ziplines suspended high above the breathtaking whitewater of Fitzsimmons Creek. A scenic Gray Line West motorcoach transfer from Whistler to Vancouver tops off this exhilarating adventure. Prices start from $262 CDN/ $226 USD per person.
Family Fun Guests who are looking for a family getaway this summer should look no further than our “Whistler Adventures.” Adults and children alike will enjoy spending quality time together onboard the Whistler Mountaineer train while taking in the spectacular scenery of the West Coast. Combine that experience with a floatplane flight or a gondola ride in the four-resort town of Whistler and travellers will have a short vacation that will thrill each member of the family. The “Overnight Adventure” is a two-day or three-day trip and is the perfect bonding vacation for loved ones. It includes a roundtrip journey onboard the Whistler Mountaineer train, a scenic Whistler Mountain gondola ride and a $30 gift card towards local dining, shopping and activities. Prices start from $279 CDN/ $240 USD per person based on double occupancy. The rate for children between the ages of 2 and 11 is $121 CDN/$105 USD
Wellness Travellers who are seeking a relaxing getaway know how important it is to enjoy the journey just as much as the final destination. That’s why many guests are opting to experience the Whistler Mountaineer train instead of driving so that they can sit back, relax and enjoy the views outside their window while being well looked after by friendly Onboard Attendants. Once in Whistler, couples or guests looking for some indulgence can take advantage of several “Whistler Adventure” getaways that include pampering treatments that will soothe the soul. The “Whistler Spa Adventure” package can be booked as either a two-day or three-day stay and is sure to become a favourite among relaxation seekers. Guests are pampered with a one-hour Swedish massage and an aromatic facial that will leave skin well hydrated and luminous. Prices start from $549 CDN/$473 USD per person based on double occupancy.
The “Whistler Adventure” packages are available now until October 16, 2006. Reservations can be made online at www.whistlermountaineer.com.
